Why Our Team Matters
The Active Lives Canada team brings over 40 years of combined experience creating and delivering high-quality camp programming for children and adults with special needs. This experience means families are not placing their trust in something new or untested, but in a team that understands what safe, supportive programming truly looks like. Every day is thoughtfully planned with structure, supervision, and individual needs in mind, allowing parents to feel confident that their child or loved one is understood, respected, and well cared for.
From creative, all day programming to adaptive outdoor, recreational, and community-based activities, our team focuses on creating the kind of camp experience families hope for but rarely find. One where safety is built into every moment, routines are predictable, and staff notice the small details that matter most. Parents can feel at ease knowing their loved ones are not just attending camp, but are part of an environment where they are supported, included, and able to enjoy meaningful, positive summer experiences with confidence and joy.
Why We Get On That Bus
At Active Lives Canada Get Up and Move Summer Camp, the most important moment of the day happens when a child or adult steps onto the bus. That single step is the beginning of something bigger. It is the start of a day filled with possibility, belonging, and adventure. Our bus is not just transportation. It is where friendships begin, routines create comfort, and excitement quietly builds. Parents can feel that sense of reassurance knowing their child’s day starts in a familiar, structured space, supported by caring staff who truly know and understand them.
Once the key turns, the world opens up. Each day brings a new adventure. Colour Wars that fill the air with laughter. Let It Snow Day in the middle of summer. Cowboy Day, themed Blue Jays Training Camp experiences, Planet Wars Day, and hands-on activity days that feel exciting, imaginative, and fun. Beyond our themed programs, the bus carries campers to unforgettable experiences like the Toronto Zoo, Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada, African Lion Safari, Black Creek Pioneer Village, bowling, and more. These are the kinds of moments families hope their children get to experience, thoughtfully planned so everyone can participate safely and confidently.
Our camp does not have just one home base. It has many. The bus is our moving hub, our safe starting point, and our gateway to discovery. It allows us to go where curiosity leads while keeping structure, supervision, and safety at the centre of every decision. This flexibility lets us create full, enriching days that adapt to each participant’s needs, energy, and interests. When parents picture their child stepping onto that bus, they are not just imagining a ride. They are imagining joy, growth, independence, and a summer filled with memories that last long after the bus pulls back in.

Safety Comes First
Safety matters because every child and adult deserves to be seen, understood, and protected, especially in environments where risks can change quickly. Whether we are swimming in pools, visiting beaches, or participating in water activities, we ensure lifeguards are always present and actively supervising. Lifeguards are trained to notice subtle signs of distress, respond immediately, and act decisively in moments where seconds truly matter. At Active Lives Canada Get Up and Move Summer Camp, safety is never assumed. It is planned for, staffed for, and monitored at every step, because everyone matters.
Before camp even begins, our team participates in comprehensive pre-camp training focused on safety, communication, and individual support needs. All staff hold current first aid and CPR certification, and they are trained to follow clear safety protocols across all activities. Just as importantly, every participant has a care plan. We take the time to understand your child’s needs, routines, triggers, medical considerations, and strengths, so staff are prepared and confident from day one.
This preparation allows parents to feel what matters most: peace of mind. Knowing your child is supported by trained staff who understand them, notice the small details, and prioritize their safety creates a sense of trust and security. At Active Lives Canada, children and adults are not just attending camp. They are entering an environment where they are known, respected, and cared for, so families can feel confident their loved ones are safe, secure, and able to fully enjoy their summer.
