Under The Sea
In a place where imagination flows like the tide and every movement feels like a wave, something magical is happening at Active Lives Canada Get Up and Move Camp. At Natasha Paterson Memorial Park in Shelburne, campers will dive into an underwater world filled with colour, creativity, and teamwork. Inspired by the wonders of the ocean, Under the Sea Day invites campers to explore sea creatures, coral reefs, and ocean adventures through movement, crafts, and cooperative challenges. From splashy water activities to ocean-inspired games, every moment encourages participation, curiosity, and connection. This is not just a theme day. This is Under the Sea Day, where every camper makes a splash.
Under the Sea Day Schedule Location: Natasha Paterson Memorial Park, Shelburne
9:45 a.m. – Arrival & Ocean Welcome Campers arrive and gather at the park. Groups are formed and introduced to their ocean teams (Sharks, Dolphins, Turtles, Seahorses). Team flags or badges are handed out to start the adventure.
10:00 a.m. – Create the Coral Reef Campers rotate through craft stations creating ocean-themed art such as: Sea creature masks or headbands, Coral reef collages, Jellyfish or fish crafts. Each team creates a sea chant or cheer to build pride and teamwork.
11:15 a.m. – Ocean Challenge Circuit Teams rotate through inclusive, ocean-inspired movement stations, including: “Swim like a Fish” relay races, Shell and pearl target toss games, Balance “wave walking” challenges, and team problem-solving ocean missions. Points focus on effort, cooperation, and cheering for others.
12:15 p.m. – Lunch by the Shore Teams eat together in a shaded area. Spirit points are awarded for kindness, cooperation, and helping keep the park clean.
1:00 p.m. – Water Play: Splash the Sea Campers cool off with fun water-based activities such as: Sponge toss, “splash zones”, Water bucket relay, fill the tide pool, Spray bottle target games. Activities are supervised, optional, and adapted to different comfort levels.
2:00 p.m. – Sea Creature Movement Games Large-group games encourage movement and imagination, including: Octopus tag, Parachute “ocean waves,” Crab walk races and sea creature yoga. Campers participate at their own pace while supporting teammates.
2:45 p.m. – Ocean Obstacle Course Teams work together to complete a cooperative obstacle course inspired by the ocean, featuring balance, crawling, jumping, and cheering.
3:30 p.m. – Sea Showcase & Reflection Teams share their crafts, chants, and favourite moments from the day. Campers reflect on teamwork, creativity, and how everyone helped make the day fun.
3:50 p.m. – Under the Sea Closing Ceremony: All campers are recognized for effort, participation, teamwork, and ocean spirit. The day ends with a group celebration of everyone’s contributions.
4:00 p.m. – Load the Bus & Head Home Campers leave smiling, refreshed, and proud after a full day of ocean adventures, movement, and connection.
