Science
At Active Lives Canada, our Science Program within the Day Program is designed to spark curiosity, confidence, and hands-on discovery for individuals with neurodiversity. Science gives participants a chance to explore how the world works in an engaging, structured, and exciting way. Whether we are learning about nature, the human body, or simple chemical reactions, our program creates meaningful opportunities for participants to ask questions, build understanding, and experience the joy of learning through doing.
Our science space is filled with interactive tools that make learning come alive. Participants use microscopes to examine textures, plants, insects, and everyday materials up close, opening up an entirely new perspective on the world around them. We also incorporate human body statues, 3-D anatomy models, and visual learning resources to help participants explore health, biology, and how their bodies function in a clear and supportive way. Chemistry sets, science kits, and guided experiments allow participants to safely engage with cause-and-effect learning, develop fine motor skills, and practice following steps in a fun and rewarding environment.
Most importantly, science programming at Active Lives is about more than facts; it is about empowerment. Participants build life skills such as focus, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and confidence as they explore new topics and discover their own strengths. Every experiment, observation, and hands-on activity becomes a pathway to growth, connection, and lifelong learning.
