Music Therapy

At Active Lives Canada, music is more than sound; it’s connection, confidence, and joy. Our day program offers a vibrant music experience where participants explore instruments like ukuleles, pianos, guitars, recorders, drumsticks, and more. Every session is filled with encouragement, creativity, and moments that make people feel proud of what they can do.

We make music fun, interactive, and truly inclusive. Participants don’t just “play,” they express themselves, build friendships, and discover new strengths through rhythm and movement. From drumming with yoga balls to group percussion and playful musical challenges, our program turns every beat into an opportunity for growth and belonging.

We also blend music with technology in exciting ways. Using engaging tablet apps, participants can learn piano finger placement, guitar hand positioning, and instrument skills step-by-step, all while strengthening fine motor abilities and focus. It’s a program designed to inspire, empower, and remind families that their loved one deserves a space where they can shine.

Across our Active Lives Canada campuses, music is a vibrant and growing part of daily programming. Participants have the opportunity to explore a wide range of instruments, including ukuleles, guitars, pianos, recorders, pan drums, and more. These instruments are woven into fun, engaging sessions that encourage creativity, confidence, and connection through sound, rhythm, and shared experiences.

We are incredibly grateful that many of these instruments have been donated or funded through generous community partners and outside supporters. Because of this, our equipment is brand new, well cared for, and always in excellent condition, giving participants the best possible experience as they learn. Every instrument represents not only a tool for music but a symbol of belief from our community in the potential of the individuals we support.

Having access to these instruments opens an entirely new world for our participants. Music allows people to communicate, express emotions, build fine motor skills, and discover talents they may never have known they had. Without these opportunities, many individuals might never get the chance to connect with music in such a meaningful way. At Active Lives Canada, these instruments help create moments of joy, belonging, and personal growth that stay with participants far beyond the music room.
